The DMAC Steering Team is chartered by the Interagency Working Group on Ocean Observations (IWGOO).

NOAA is the lead agency for IOOS. NOAA created the NOAA IOOS Program to support IOOS. The NOAA IOOS Program has provided funding and oversight for the development of the DMAC Standards Adoption Process website.

DMAC is part of the United States Group on Earth Observations (US GEO), which is the U.S. contribution to the Global Earth Observation System of Systems (GEOSS). DMAC coordinates its efforts with the GEOSS IEEE Committee on Earth Observations Standards Working Group (ISWG).

DMAC is also part of the U.S. contribution to the Global Ocean Observing System (GOOS).

The International Oceanographic Data and Information Exchange (IODE) of the International Oceanographic Commission (IOC) of UNESCO) is working with DMAC to adopt and adapt the DMAC standards adoption process.

The National Federation of Regional Associations for Coastal and Ocean Observations (NFRA) is developing regional systems which will integrate with DMAC.

The IOOS Observation Registry is an inventory of non-Federal observing assets most of which are from Regional Associations. DMAC is working on developing common standards for use in accessing and integrating the data from these and other assets.
